Make your department praiseworthy, chief prelates tell new Sri Lanka police chief

Nov 07, Kandy: The two chief incumbents of the Malwatta and Asgiri chapters today urged the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Mahinda Balasuriya to make his department the public would praise.
When the new IGP Mahinda Balasuriya met the two chief incumbents at Kandy, the Most Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala, Mahanayake Thera of the Malwatta Chapter and the the Most Venerable Udugama Buddharakkhitha Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter made this appeal, sources said.
The IGP has first paid homage at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy during his visit to Sri Lanka hill capital today.
After the religious activities held at the Temple of Tooth Relic the IGP visited the two chief prelates to receive the blessings for his future duties.
The two Theros has said that the image of the police had been tarnished in the recent past due to unlawful activities of some officers and asked the new IGP to take immediate steps to correct it.
