Nov 07, Kurunegala: Sri Lanka police fatally shot another prominent underworld figure last night in Kurunegala.
Police spokesman Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Nimal Mediwaka confirmed that this underworld leader, Suraj Dhanushka also known as Ibbawaththe Dhanushka was shot dead when he attempted to escape by attacking the policemen.
Police said they opened fire at the suspect in self-defence when he tried to strangle the
the driver of the police vehicle that was transporting him and the police team to a location where he had allegedly hidden some weapons.
The policeman who was attacked has also been admitted to the Kurunegala hospital.
