* Sri Lankan Health Ministry gags its staff over contaminated drug issue

Nov 06, Colombo: After discovering few more contaminated drug vials the Health Ministry has prohibited its staff to speak to the media, its sources said.

According to the sources, the Ministry has issued a special circular banning the staff from releasing to media.

The main goal of this decision was to prevent the media from receiving further details over finding more contaminated vials, sources said.

It was reported that the doctors in Balangoda hospital has recovered two more drug vials with intrusive materials this morning.

According to the sources, the contaminated vials were common medicines used in the operation theater of the hospital.

The Health Ministry banned three Indian drug suppliers over the contaminated drug supplies. The Ministry is in the process of recovering the losses from those suppliers.
