Nov 06, Colombo: Military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara rejected the alleged media reports on sales of cartridges of ammunitions used during the period of humanitarian operations at a low price to a foreign company.
"It had been reported that the Defence Ministry was attempting to sell 41,000 brass cartridges to Singapore at 150 rupees each, when it can be sold in Sri Lanka at 350 rupees. This report is baseless and malicious," he claimed.
These reports are fabricated to mislead the public and damage the dignity of armed forces, he added. The Military Spokesman further pointed out that the Defence Ministry was not intending to sell any cartridges.
