* Sri Lanka's only Zoo loses two animals

Nov 04, Colombo: A baby pygmy hippopotamus died at Sri Lanka's only zoo, the National Zoological Gardens in Dehiwala this morning.

According to the senior veterinarian of Dehiwala Zoo Dr. Ramani Jayalath, the baby pygmy hippopotamus was only four days old.

According to her the baby pygmy hippopotamus of African origin may have been crushed under the body of its mother or had died due to lack of milk.

Meanwhile, an African lioness also died at the Dehiwala Zoo yesterday.
