Sri Lanka cricket star Muralitharan talks about world poverty to Commonwealth Conversation

Nov 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka's world class bowler Muttiah Muralitharan today talked about how the Commonwealth can help countries like Sri Lanka and how sports can bring nations together in an interview with the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS).
In an exclusive interview for the Commonwealth Conversation, Muralitharan talked about the power of sport to unite people irrespective of race and religion and what the Commonwealth could do to help Sri Lanka build a better future.
When asked one issue he thinks the most important for the Commonwealth leaders meeting this month in Trinidad to consider, Murali said poverty is the biggest problem and when people are hungry the mind doesn't work.
Murali is the greatest cricket player in the Sri Lankan history and he is the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket history. He is also a dedicated humanitarian and philanthropist, serving as a trustee of the Foundation of Goodness, which seeks to help Sri Lanka's rural poor.
