Sri Lanka government to present vote-on-account to the parliament tomorrow

Nov 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka government is to present its vote-on-account for the first four months of the year 2010 to the parliament tomorrow for voting, Minister of State Revenue and Finance and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.
Vote-on-account was submitted in place of an appropriation bill for expenditure for a period of four months commencing from the first day of January 2010 as the government is preparing for the next parliament election before April 2010.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the vote-on-account proposal submitted by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Finance Minister earlier in October.
One third of the funds passed by the parliament as Supplementary Estimates during the current year have been included in the vote-on-account.
The proposed expenditure in the vote-on-account for maintaining of public services includes Rs. 197 billion for Recurrent Expenditure, Rs. 156 billion for Capital Expenditure and Rs. 6.2 billion for Advance Accounts.
The vote-on-account is to be debated for two days from tomorrow and voting will take place on November 5th.
