Chandima Weerakkody to represent parliament for the vacancy of Minister Dodangoda

May 31, Colombo: Habaraduwa SLFP Chief Organizer and chairman of State Mortgage and Investment Bank, Chandima Weerakkody is to be appointed to the parliament seat left vacant by the death of the Justice Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda.
According to government sources Chandima Weerakkody will take oath as a parliament member on the next sitting day.
Meanwhile the remains of the late Minister Dodangoda are to be brought to the Parliament tomorrow for fellow parliamentarians to pay their last respects from 10 am to 11.30 am.
The remains of the late Minister will then be carried out to his personal residence at Karapitiya in Galle.
Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda passed away last night at the Colombo national hospital after brief illness. He was 67.
