More warnings on dengue fever in Sri Lanka

May 31, Colombo: The Ministry of Health asked the general public to immediately get treatments from nearest government hospital if they are suffering from a fever for more than two days.
The Deputy Director of Public Health, Dr. Palitha Maheepala, said that dengue fever is currently spreading at an unexpectedly alarming rate.
According to Dr. Maheepala, the Ministry has already provided all possible medical treatments for dengue fever to all government hospitals throughout the country.
Meanwhile the Dengue Prevention Unit of the Health Ministry said that 85 dengue patients have already died during the first five months of this year.
According to the Ministry statistics 6,669 dengue cases have been reported from various parts of the country during that same period.
The majority of the dengue cases were reported from the Colombo, Kandy, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Hambantota, Galle and Matara districts.
