More facilities to passengers in Sri Lanka capital

May 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka government has taken steps to establish a new zone in the capital Colombo for the public transport services.
Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said this new zone comprising Fort Railway station, Colombo Central Bus Stand and the new private bus stand at Bastian Mawatha.
The measure is aimed at provideing more comfortable facilities for the commuters who reach Colombo to take public transport services.
Transport Ministry hopes to hand over the administration of Bastion Mawatha private bus stand to National Transport Commission to meet their expectations more easily.
Following this step all long distance bus services will commence from Bastion Mawatha private bus stand, Transport Ministry said.
Additionally the government hopes to provide more facilities including infrastructure development in the new transport zone.
