Sat, May 30, 2009, 09:55 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 30, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa will visit New Delhi next week, the Presidential Media Unit says.

The main purpose of this Indian visit is to discuss further the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sri Lanka's North.

India's Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon and National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan, who met President Rajapaksa a few days ago in Colombo, had earlier promised to assist Sri Lanka on this issue.

Additionally, the new Indian External Affairs Minister, S.M. Krishna, also gave the same promise to his Sri Lankan counterpart Rohitha Bogollagama during a telephone conversation several days ago.
