May 24, Anuradhapura: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today paid homage to the most Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura.

The President made a surprise visit to the most sacred Anuradhapura city this morning as a leader who united the nation. During the visit President Mahinda called on the Chief Incumbent of Atamasthnaya Ven. Pallegama Siriniwasa Thero and Chief Incumbent of Ruwanveli Mahasaya Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thero. The chief incumbents blessed the President for more strength to continue governing the country and protection of triple gem. This was the first time the President paid homage to the most Sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura following the defeat of terrorism completely. North Central province Governor Karunaratna Diulgane, Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake, Ministers Tissa Karaliyadda, Duminda Dissanayake, and President's son Yoshitha Rajapaksa also participated.
