May 18, Colombo: Sri Lanka's main Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has congratulated President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the security forces for the victory over LTTE terrorism.

The media unit of the United National Party said Wickremasinghe has telephoned the President this afternoon and congratulated him over the war victory.

Opposition Leader yesterday saluted the war heroes who led the country for a historical victory over LTTE.

Meanwhile the three forces commanders are to meet the President, the Commander-In-Chief to formally inform of the historic military victory this evening.

Army Commander Lt. General Sarath Fonseka, Air Force Commander Air Marshall Roshan Gunathilaka and Navy Commander Vice Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda will meet the President later today, Presidential Media Unit said.
