May 16, Scarborough: Suspected Tamil Tiger supporters have set fire to the Buddhist Temple in Scarborough in the pre-dawn hours of today while the resident monks were sleeping in the temple.

The three monks in the Temple have escaped unharmed from the burning building. Police and the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the fire.

The fire comes less than a week after the attacks on the Sri Lankan Buddhist temples in Paris and London by the LTTE mob in those cities.

A group of suspected Tamil Tiger supporters carried out an attack on the International Buddhist Centre at Le Bourget in Paris on Sunday (May 10). The French police is yet to arrest any culprits over the attack.

Suspected Tamil Tiger supporters attacked the Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre popularly known as the "Kingsbury Buddhist Temple-London" in the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday (May 14) and caused damage to the glass windows, panels and the building.

Sri Lankan community in theses cities believe, panicked by the inevitable demise of the LTTE by the Sri Lankan security forces, the Tamil Tigers' international network is organizing the attacks across the cities of Western countries where they enjoy more sympathy and impunity.

The pro-LTTE Tamil protestors have become violent in Canadian cities of Ottawa and Toronto and in European cities mainly in London and Paris. They have attacked the Sri Lankan missions in London, Oslo, Hague in Netherlands, and Paris.
