June 30, Colombo: Administration of the airports and harbours in Sri Lanka which was under the civil administration is to be handed over to the Department of Immigration and Emigration.

Controller of the Department of Immigration and Emigration, P.B Abeykoon, said this decision has been made to closely monitor and report the details of the people who are entering and leaving the country.

As a first step, the administration of the Trincomalee harbour will be handed over to the Department of Immigration and Emigration with effect from July 01.

The administration of other harbours is to be handed over to the Department of Immigration and Emigration in the future, Abeykoon added.
