* Use of military victories for poll campaigns banned in Sri Lanka

June 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka government has prohibited the use of military victories as election propaganda for the upcoming polls.

Issuing a special announcement Director of the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) confirmed that they have already issued a circular over this issue.

The letter pointed out that using images of the forces in posters, cutouts in print or electronic media by any candidate is completely illegal.

The ex-service personnel who will contest for the upcoming elections could obtain written permission to use such pictures in election propaganda campaigns.
