June 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka main opposition United National Party (UNP) is to establish its two election offices in Jaffna and Vavuniya next week.

Dr. Jayalath Jayawardana, the chief organizer of the UNP for the Northern polls told the media that the election office in Jaffna will be opened on July 02nd at Kandamadam area.

The election office in Vavuniya is to be opened on July 05th, he added.

The United National Party is the first Sinhala political party that opens election offices in Northern region in the recent history.

However they have to obtain approval from the Defence Secretary every time they leave for Vavuniya and Jaffna.
