June 28, Colombo: Sri Lanka Women were crowned today as the champions of the Seventh Asian Netball Championships held in Malaysia.

In the finals Sri Lanka Women beat the last year's champions, Singapore by 78-48 to secure the Title.

This is the 4th time that the Sri Lanka clinched the title for in Asian Netball Championship which began in 1985.

Playing in Group B, Sri Lanka beat the host nation, Malaysia in their second match 72-52 and India by 103-27 to enter quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, they beat Pakistan 102-12 and qualified for the semifinals undefeated.

Sri Lanka beat Thailand 88-44 in the semi finals held on last Friday.

With this win Sri Lanka also qualified for the 2011 World Netball Championships.
