More Sri Lankan fishermen arrested in Indian waters

June 28, Colombo: The number of Sri Lankan fishermen taken into Indian custody is rising day by day as another group of fishermen were arrested by the Indian Coast Guards yesterday.
Indian Coast Guards arrested a group of 40 Sri Lankan fishermen yesterday for illegally entering the Indian waters. Indian Coast Guards also seized the eight trawlers the fisherman travelled.
According to the sources they have entered into the Indian territorial waters to catch the "Kenda" species which could earn more money in the international market.
The fishermen who were from Tangalle, Trincomalee, and Dondra Head are to be brought to Chennai this evening for further investigations.
