June 27, Colombo: Sri Lanka government today criticized the bifurcate policies of the international community which are adapted in different ways in different countries.
Speaking at a press conference held in Colombo this morning, the Minister of Human Rights and Disaster Management, Mahinda Samarasinghe said these double standards of the international community are very unreasonable.
He said that the international community pressures the Sri Lankan government over the internally displaced persons issue differently from how they influence similar issues in other countries.
According to Minister Samarasinghe the same international community had acted far differently with the displaced issue of recent earthquake in Italy.
He pointed out that the international community had allowed the Italian government to carry out its own programs over the resettlement of displaced persons by the earthquake.
Minister Samarasinghe said that he had seen all these Italian programs, which are being carried out without any international pressure, during his recent Rome tour.
