Sri Lankan fishermen in Indian waters arrested

June 25, Colombo: Indian Coast Guards have arrested another group of Sri Lankan fishermen yesterday evening for entering Indian waters illegally.
Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission for India confirmed that a group of 25 fishermen has been arrested in the seas off Chennai yesterday evening.
According to the Deputy High Commission this was the second group of Sri Lankan fishermen arrested by the Indian coast guards within a week.
They are to be brought to Chennai this evening for further inquiries.
Meanwhile, the Deputy High Commissioner confirmed that 15 Sri Lankan fishermen got released earlier, but the total number in detention now has risen further with the new group.
