June 05, Colombo: The Ministry of Education today sent a stock of books worth Rs. 137 million to distribute among the internally displaced children in the North.

The Ministry announced that this was the first stock of books scheduled to be distributed among the displaced children.

Sri Lankan government has decided to provide necessary material to the school children and teaching staff of the region to continue academic activities.

Under the programme, 500 tables and chairs for teachers, 5,000 tables and chairs for students, school uniforms and clothes as well as a stock of text books for the students will be distributed in Vavuniya, Education Ministry said.
