* Special train services to Sri Lanka hill country from tomorrow for Esala Perahera

July 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka Railway Department is to deploy additional train services to Kandy, Sri Lanka's hill country, from tomorrow for the convenience of the people who wish to reach Kandy to see the Esala Perahera.

The Railway Department said the special train service will continue until the 6th of August when this year's Esala festival of Most Sacred Temple of Tooth Relic concludes.

The first Randoli Perahera of the Kandy Esala festival will parade tomorrow, August 1 and continue to parade each night for another five days.

The final Perahera is to parade the streets on 5th of August and the Esala Festival will conclude after the Water Cutting Ceremony on August 6th in Getambe.

Meanwhile, another special train service will begin to the Palawi in Puttalam on Saturday and Sunday for the devotees to attend the annual festival of famous Thalawila St. Anne's Church.
