* Sri Lanka's champion spinner Murali to retire from Test cricket early next year

July 30, Colombo: The highest wicket taker in world cricket, Sri Lanka's master spinner Muttiah Muralitharan today announced his retirement from Test cricket.

Speaking to the media, Murali said he will retire from Test cricket soon after the upcoming West Indies tour of Sri Lanka in early next year.

However he assured the spectators all around the country as well as the world that he would play for One-Day Internationals and Twenty20 matches until the next world cup in 2011.

Muttiah Muralitharan has claimed 770 wickets in Tests and 507 wickets in ODIs.
