* Electronic money order service commences in Sri Lanka

July 30, Colombo: The Postal Department of Sri Lanka has today commenced a electronic money order service facility for the convenience of its customers.

The objective of the new feature is to make money transactions carried out via post to be more convenient and to increase efficiency, Post Master General M. K. B. Dissanayake confirmed.

Under the first phase of the programme, the new facility will be introduced at all main post offices in the island first and extended to sub post offices in the near future.

According to the Postal Department up to Rs. 25,000 could be sent at a time using this facility, he added.
