* New intercity train service to Sri Lanka's international airport

July 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka Railways has decided to commence a new intercity train service between Colombo Fort and Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), country's only international airport.

P.B Wijesekara, the General Manager of Railways said all the arrangements are now ready to commence this train service from the next month.

According to the General Manager, the rail tracks between these two destinations and a rail station in the airport have already been constructed. Currently only the fuel trains are travelling between Colombo Fort and BIA in Katunayake.

Once the passenger services started Sri Lanka Railways is to introduce a super luxury compartment for the foreign travelers' comfort.

The new intercity train service expects to provide travelers a fast and easy trip to the airport.
