July 16, Colombo: Sri Lanka government today submitted a supplementary estimate of Rs. 50 million for parliamentary approval to meet the expenditure for the construction works of a new safari park in Hambantota District.

Proposing this to the House, Minister of Sports and Public Recreation Gamini Lokuge said that this safari park would be established at Ridiyagama in Ambalantota of the Hambantota District in Southern Sri Lanka.

The safari park aims to boost the country's tourism industry as well as to give more freedom to the wild life, the Minister added.

The government has already allocated a land of 500 acres for the park and the constructions are to be carried out by the State Engineering Corporation.

According to Minister Lokuge, the constructions of this first safari park in Sri Lanka will be completed by next year.
