* Sri Lanka to implement trauma counseling for displaced children

July 09, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Education to commence special trauma counseling, psycho social and recreational programmes for internally displaced children with the assistance of UNESCO.

According to the sources at Education Ministry the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has donated US$ 50,000 to rehabilitate internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the North.

The Ministry announced that they will implement the special programmes for the IDP children in the near future with those funds.

According to the sources there is a large number of children among the displaced persons who need special trauma counseling and other wellness measures to improve their mental status.
