July 03, Colombo: Muttiah Muralitharan, the highest wicket taker in both Test and one-day matches is to miss the first Test match against visiting Pakistani team scheduled to begins tomorrow at Galle.

Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that Muralitharan will not play the first Test due to a knee injury occurred during a practice session.

Murali has to rest at least one week to recover from the injury, sources said.

He will be replaced either by Suraj Mohommad or Rangana Herath, the Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket Nishantha Ranathunga said.
