* Sri Lanka President urges all political parties to unite for reconciliation

July 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today urged all political parties to unite and focus on the equalities and not on the differences.

The President made these remarks today addressing the inaugural session of the Presidential Committee on Development and Reconciliation at the President's Office.

Leaders of about 20 political parties in the country, members of the armed forces, and other civil and military authorities attended the session.

Prime Minister, Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka, Secretary to the President Lalith Weerathunge, Add. Secretary to the President Gamini Senarath, Competent Authority for the IDPs, Major General G.A. Chandrasiri, Essential Services Commissioner General, S. Divaratna, Treasury Secretary Sumith Abeysinghe and Foreign Secretary, Palitha Kohona also participated in the discussions.
