July 02, Colombo: An unidentified gunman has shot dead a member of an extremist gang in Eravur, Batticaloa last night.

Eravur police said the youth, a resident of Michinagar, Eravur, was killed when he was sleeping in his home.

The parents of the killed youth have told the police that their son was a minor labourer in the area, but the identification of the victim has not released yet.

Eravur police are conducting further investigations.
