July 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka pscemsn Lasith Malinga, most successful face bowler in the recently concluded Twenty20 world championship, is to play Australian domestic Twenty20 competition.

He was selected to play for the Tasmania team as a main pace bowler and will sign the agreements in the near future, sources confirmed.

Lasith Malinga will be the first Sri Lankan cricketer to play domestic Twenty20 in Australia.

Meanwhile it was reported that Australian cricket officials have commenced discussions over selecting Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara to play this year's domestic Twenty20.
