* Sri Lankan government says it has enough proof to show CFA helped to strengthen LTTE
Wed, Jul 1, 2009, 10:28 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

July 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka government today said that they have enough proof to show that the Norway-brokered Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) benefited the defeated Tamil Tigers to strengthen them.

Accusing the country's main opposition, United National Party, Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said that UNP's CFA helped to strengthen the Tamil Tigers' powers.

The Minister who crossed over from the UNP to the ruling alliance made this claim in response to a statement made by UNP parliamentarian Vajira Abeywardena that Tiger terrorists did not receive any benefits from the ceasefire agreement.

"As the government, we never concealed the truth, everyone knew how the government was conducting the war,” the minister added.
