Young Sri Lankan cricket team to leave for Bangladesh tomorrow

Dec 31, Colombo: The Sri Lankan Cricket team with several younger players is to leave for Bangladesh tomorrow (January 1) for the tri-series with India and Bangladesh.
The team includes several young cricket players who are new to the international arena. The new players included in the Bangladesh tour are Chamara Silva, Lahiru Thirimanne, leg spinner Malinga Bandara and fast bowler Thilan Thushara.
The squad also includes Suranga Lakmal, Chanaka Welegedera and Suraj Randiv who played in India in the recently concluded series.
Addressing a media briefing today, the team captain, Kumar Sangakakra said players in the caliber of Thisira Perera and Lahiru Thirimanne have a great opportunity to cement their place at national level.
Sri Lanka Coach Trevor Baylis said Suranga Lakmal, Chanaka Welegedera and Suraj Randiv were the most impressive, against the Indians in the recent series.
The Tri-series tournament will be played from January 4-13. Sri Lanka will play against Bangladesh in the first match in Mirpur.
