Be sensitive to the patients' needs, President tells Sri Lanka nurses

Dec 27, Colombo: All the forces that opposed the government's rescue operation against the terrorism now have joined together as a one party against the government to betray the country to international forces, Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa said today.
Addressing the members of the main nurses' union in Sri Lanka, the Public Services United Nurses Union at the Temple Trees today the President said the opposition parties are spreading false rumors against the government with the help of some media institutions that disregard the media ethics.
The government has taken measures to address the basic issues of the nurses, President Rajapaksa said, adding that the nurses training schools have been increased up to 19 and their exams would be conferred degree status. The quality of nurses will be uplifted to the international level, he said.
The President said the government said his government is committed to secure the democratic rights of the people and the professional rights of the working class. He urged the nurses to be sensitive to the patients' needs above their professional rights
The union president Ven. Murutettuwe Ananda Nayake thero presented a memento to the President at the occasion. Minister of Healthcare and Nutrition Nimal Siripala de Silva was also present.
