Deshamanya Dr. Anthonis, Sri Lanka's most renowned surgeon passed away on Thursday (Dec 17) at age 98.
The veteran surgeon, whose career has spanned more than five decades, was conferred the highest national honour Deshamanya in 1986 and was also bestowed with the title Vishwa Prasadini.
He was the chancellor of the University of Colombo for more than 20 years.
The funeral of late Dr. Anthonis will take place at General Cemetery in Borella today.
