* Sri Lanka President opens labor museum

Dec 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa today ceremoniously opened the 'Urumayaka Piya Satahan' (Footsteps of a Heritage), a museum highlighting the achievements of the Labour Department at the Labour Secretariat premises in Narahenpita.

President Rajapaksa also laid the foundation stone for the 30-storey new Employees Provident Fund Building, 'Mehewara Piyasa' at the same premises.

The new museum of labor aims to educate the public on the progress achieved by the Labour Department throughout its 87 years of its history.

Minister of Labour Relations and Foreign Employment Athauda Seneviratne, Non-cabinet Labor Minister Mervyn Silva, Minister of Youth Affairs Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister of Urban Development and Sacred Area Development, Dinesh Gunawardena and Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha also participated
