* President inspects the construction of Peliyagoda Fish Market

Aug 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa paid a surprise visit to inspect the construction of the Peliyagoda Fish Market yesterday (30).

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister Felix Perera, Labor Minister Mervyn Silva and Secretary to the Fisheries Ministry G Piyasena and the Project Manger Krishantha Kumara accompanied the President.

The Government has decided to accelerate the constructions of the new state-of-the-art Fish Market Complex at Peliyagoda being built at a cost of Rs. 1.5 billion.

The main St. John's fish market at Pettah will be relocated to the sprawling 3.7 acre facility along the Katunayake expressway by December this year according to the Ministry.
