Sri Lanka cricket captain at the top again in ICC Test rankings

Aug 31, Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara reclaimed his number-one spot on the ICC Test rankings following his brilliant performance against the New Zealand last week.
Sangakkara is at the number-one position in the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen for the fourth time in his career after his superb 20th Test century in the second Test against New Zealand.
Sangakkara has reclaimed the position from the Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir. He has been at the top in December 2007, March 2008 and then in July 2009.
Former skipper Mahela Jayawardena also moved up the list to be at his career-best at the 3rd place. The middle-order batsmen Thilan Samaraweera, who was the player of the series, also reached his career-best at 12th position. Tillekeratne Dilshan was placed at the 21st position.
Sri Lanka's star spinner Muttiah Muralitharan claimed the second position at the Test Bowlers list behind South Africa's Dale Steyn. Nuwan Kulasekara claimed the top position in the ICC ODI rankings for the bowlers.
Sri Lanka yesterday swept the two-match Test series 2-0 in Colombo against the touring Kiwis.
