Investigations over assassination of Major General Janaka Perera completed
Aug 31, Colombo: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today informed the Anuradhapura Magistrate Courts that the main suspect of the assassination case of Major General Janaka Perera is now ready to make a special confession over the incident.
When the case was heard this morning before the Chief Magistrate of Anuradhapura Dharshika Wimalasiri, the CID further informed the courts that all the investigations have already been completed on the suspects of this case.
According to the CID, the Attorney General's Department is presently processing the charges for prosecution at Anuradhapura Courts.
Major General Janaka Perera and 27 others including his wife were killed in October 2008 when a suicide bomber blew himself at the opposition UNP party office in Anuradhapura. Six suspects are in remand custody over the incident.
