Aug 20, Colombo: Another three suspects, two police constables and a civil defence force officer attached to the controversial Angulana police post have been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department over the alleged murder of two youth while in police custody.
The CID confirmed that these three suspects were arrested last night on the information revealed during the ongoing investigations.
These three suspects are to be produced in the courts this evening.
Earlier Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court ordered to remand six police officers including the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Angulana Police Post over the murders.
The suspected police officers have arrested Dhanushka Aponso and Dinesh Tharanga Fernando over a minor offense on the night of August 12. Their bullet ridden bodies were found on the rail tracks following day.
The killings sparked riots in the area against the police post and the authorities were forced to take quick action to arrest the suspected police officers to quell the public's anger.
