* Governor of Sri Lanka's Sabaragamuwa Province passes away

May 12, Ratnapura: Mohan Saliya Ellawela, the Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province has passed away this afternoon at a private hospital in Colombo.

The family sources said Ellawela passed away after suffering from a lengthy illness.

Mohan Saliya Ellawala was sworn in as the new Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province before President Mahinda Rajapaksa on October 02nd, 2008.

Mohan Saliya Ellawela, one time Chief Minister of the Sabaragamuwa Province entered the politics in 1974 as a private secretary to Hector Kobbekaduwa, former Minister of Agriculture and Lands.

He has served as a member of parliament, a Minister, and as the Chief Minister of the Sabaragamuwa Province.

The funeral arrangements are to be announced later.
