Abused Sri Lankan housemaids return to the country

Mar 29, Colombo: Another group of Sri Lankan house maids who faced severe hardships at their working places in the Middle East have returned to the country yesterday.
Sri Lanka's Foreign Employment Bureau said a total of 40 women workers reached the country after spending some time in welfare camps of their respective countries of employment.
According to the Bureau the women have worked as house maids in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
Most of them came back even without receiving their salaries while some others have even received injuries at the hands of abusive employers.
The Foreign Employment Bureau has sent the women to their villages after providing them with food and money at the Katunayake International Airport.
