President orders to expand services at hospitals in Northeastern in Sri Lanka

Mar 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa has ordered the Health Ministry to expand the services provided at the hospital recently built at Pulmoddai and the existing Padawiya Hospital in northeastern Sri Lanka for the evacuated civilians.
A delegation including Sabaragamuwa Chief Minister Mahipala Herath and Health Secretary Dr. Athula Kahandaliyanage along with senior officials of the Health Ministry recently visited these hospitals to inspect the existing facilities.
Following the visit the President has given a directive to expand the services at Pulmoddai Hospital and to construct a wards complex with 100 beds in the Padawiya Hospital and improve the surgical facilities.
The Health Ministry is to provide 10 ambulances to the hospital. According to the Chief Minister the President has given instructions to post 15 doctors including specialists and 40 nurses, to the Hospital.
The delegation also handed over a Rs. 20 million worth of medicine to the Chief of the Indian medical team.
