* Sri Lanka government to develop the estate sector

Mar 29, Colombo: Sri Lanka government has allocated nearly Rs. 434 million to develop the public facilities in estate sector.

Youth Empowerment and Socio Economic Development Ministry said that they hope to commence several development projects at the estate sector under this process in the near future.

Additionally the Ministry is planning to build some housing projects, commence several self employment projects, and provide vocational training to the youth in estate sector.

According to the government sources most of the estates in Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Kandy and Ratnapura were not granted any facilities during the last few years.

Especially the infrastructure and educational facilities are at a very low standard in the estate sector, the Ministry added.
