ICRC ferries another batch of sick and wounded civilians to Sri Lanka government controlled areas

Mar 29, Colombo: The International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) with the assistance of Sri Lanka Navy ferried the 15th batch of sick and wounded civilians yesterday (28) by the sea route.
ICRC evacuated 507 patients and civilians to Pulmoddai on board the MV Green Ocean sailing under the ICRC flag with the security provided by the Sri Lankan Navy.
According to defence officials, this group consisted of 168 men, 198 women, and 141 children. Among them 68 men and 64 women needed medical treatment.
The Naval doctors provided emergency medical treatment to the patients upon disembarkation at Pulmoddai and rushed them to the Field hospital in Pulmoddai and the General hospital in Padaviya.
The ICRC confirmed that they have already ferried over 2,400 sick and wounded patients to Pulmoddai mobile hospital by the last four trips of the Green Ocean.
ICRC expects to continue the humanitarian effort until all the sick and wounded are evacuated to the government controlled areas.
