ID compulsory for Sri Lanka's provincial election

Mar 28, Colombo: The Election Department yesterday announced that establishment of voters' identity will be compulsory even for postal voters at the forthcoming Western Provincial Council election. The election is scheduled for April 25. Sources said the decision was taken to prevent any rigging. Postal voting will be held on April 2-3 and 35,431 voters are eligible to vote by post. There will be 2,299 polling booths in the three districts.
