* ICRC ferries another batch of sick and wounded civilians in Northern Sri Lanka

Mar 27, Colombo: The International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) with the assistance of Sri Lanka Navy ferried another batch of sick and wounded civilians yesterday (26) by the sea route.

ICRC evacuated 488 patients and civilians to Pulmoddai on board the MV Green Ocean sailing under the ICRC flag with the security provided by the Sri Lankan Navy.

This is the 14th batch of civilians evacuated from the rebel-held no-fire zone over the sea. The group consisted of 157 adult males, 216 adult females, and 115 children. Among them 100 male and 63 female patients needed medical treatment.

Naval doctors provided emergency medical treatment to the patients upon disembarkation at Pulmoddai and rushed them to the Field hospital in Pulmoddai and the General hospital in Padaviya.
