Jan 09, Colombo: Sri Lanka police last night arrested a suspect over the recent attack on Maharaja Broadcasting Complex at Depanama in Pannipitiya.
Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekara said the suspect was arrested in the Maharagama area on a call received by the police emergency service on the emergency number 118.
According to the spokesman the suspect is a member of the Sri Jayewardenepura -Kotte Municipal Council.
Questioning the suspect is now underway and the police hope to learn important details from him, SSP Gunasekara said.
An unidentified gang attacked the MTV/MBC complex, a leading Sri Lankan TV and Radio station at Depanama in Pannipitiya in the early hours of last Tuesday (5) and heavily damaged its main control room.
Maharaja Company announced a Rs. 5 million reward to any information leading to the arrest of the attackers and later increased the reward to Rs. 7.5 million.
