Jan 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka government strongly condemned today’s pre-dawn attack on the Sirasa MTV/MBC complex in Depanama, Pannipitiya, Government Information Department said.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa ordered a full investigation into the attack and called on the Inspector General of Police to apprehend the culprits and bring them to court, the official government news portal reported.

Minister of Mass Media and Information, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, while condemning the attack and calling on the IGP to initiate a probe into the incident said it appears that the attack was deliberately designed to bring the Government into disrepute when the heroic troops are successfully engaged in ridding the country of the terrorist menace.

An unidentified armed gang entered the media complex in the early hours of today and set fire to the main control room of the station. This was the second attack on the MTV/MBC complex within five days.
